Modvion builds the next generation of sustainable wind turbine towers in laminated wood – nature’s carbon fiber. Using wood enables radical reductions in carbon emissions, making it possible to generate net zero energy from wind power. In fact, considering that wood is also storing carbon the tower itself is carbon negative – storing more carbon than it produces during production. To reach stronger and more stable winds and produce more energy, wind turbines are getting bigger in every sense. Thanks to our patented module system, we have developed a cost-effective solution enabling transportation for installations of tall towers.

Modvion's first large wind turbine tower was installed in 2023, an important milestone that confirms our innovative strength and the interest from the industry is high.

What will you be doing:

You will play an important role in the heart of our production. In our well-equipped workshop and test laboratory your main tasks will be to cooperate closely with our test lead and the other technicians in the team. Together you will produce the test specimens for a wide variety of tests and support, or independently supervise, the execution of the tests. Regardless of whether this involves testing material properties in the area of fracture loads or the load-bearing behavior in the fatigue state, all work always requires a very high level of precision and craftsmanship.

From time to time your contribution might also be to develop and constantly improve structures and processes in order to make our work in the workshop safe and efficient. 

We are looking for:

We believe you are either a trained carpenter or joiner with a strong inclination towards issues in the field of testing technology as well as research and development, or a testing technician/engineer with a great enthusiasm for working hands-on with wood and wood-based materials.

To be successful in the role you: 

• have completed training as a carpenter or joiner, alternatively, training/studies to become a wood technician.
• enjoy precise and careful independent work
• have a good technical understanding of the physical properties of wood and technical adhesives
• are skilled in craftsmanship and confident handling of all types of woodworking machines.
• have experience in planning and carrying out material tests 
• speak and write English fluently

The position is based at our headquarter and workshop in Hisings Backa, Gothenburg.
